Safe and Drug-Free Schools Toolkit

Each school division in Virginia has a designated Safe and Drug-Free Schools (SDFS) Coordinator. The role of SDFS Coordinator may be a primary position in some school divisions while in others it is an added function to an existing position.  Regardless of the position the tasks of overseeing the school division’s SDFS program lies with the SDFS Coordinator.  The main tasks of this position are to:
  • Follow the Principles of Effectiveness and Prevention Science
  • Ensure SDFSCA funds supplement the existing violence, alcohol, tobacco and other drug-free prevention/intervention plan
  • Ensure SDFSCA funds are used for approved activities
  • Submit annually the SDFSCA application
  • Submit annually the SDFSCA Progress Report
  • Complete other request as made by VDOE

OMEGA is accessed via a Single Sign-On for Web Systems (SSWS). Instructions for gaining SSWS privileges and navigating through OMEGA are available at the following link.
